FACT SF/F Reading Group
When we lived in Austin, Texas, I was an active member of FACT, the local fandom club. I have many fond memories of attending and putting together ArmadilloCon. Honestly, FACT is probably what I miss the most since leaving Austin.
During the COVID pandemic, FACT adapted like so many other organizations had to do. One of the changes was that the FACT Reading Group, which I belonged to back in the 90s, moved online. This gave me the opportunity to rejoin, and I have enjoyed reading books with some of my old friends and a few new ones, too.
It's funny. I used to have a very hard time reading fast enough to keep up with the group when we were in Austin, but even though I have less free time now, I'm somehow able to keep up with the reading almost always. Maybe it's because I appreciate being a part of the group more now, and as life returns to normal, I know it's only a matter of time before they go back to meeting in person.
